Casey Hess is an Ulm, DE based dancer working with Theater Ulm (Annett Göhre). Previously, Hess was working with Of Curious Nature (Helge Letonja). In 2022 they performed for Christopher Williams’ Joyce Season in New York, NY, guested with Theater Plauen Zwickau (Annett Göhre), and performed for Soufiane Ababri’s solo gallery show opening Non Merci! at Dittrich & Schlechtriem in Berlin. Hess has worked with Theater Plauen Zwickau (Zwickau, DE) Peridance Contemporary Dance Company (New York City) and BodyVox (Portland, OR). Notable projects include the Merce Cunningham Centennial (CAP UCLA), Marc Jacobs NYFW Fall 2020 (Karole Armitage), and Works and Process at The Guggenheim (Reid Bartelme and Harriet Jung). Graduating the Juilliard School in 2017, Hess performed works by Zvi Gotheiner, Jiri Kylian, Loni Landon, Jose Limon, Mark Morris, Matthew Neenan, and Takehiro Ueyama. Through Springboard (2016) Hess performed a piece by Fernando Melo and was part of an installation with Spenser Theberge. Thanks to various other opportunities they have also performed works by Isadora Duncan, Agnes de Mille, Ohad Naharin, and Tom Weinberger.

Hess has left their position as the Family Resource Navigator at Cherry Park Elementary School - David Douglas School District in Portland, OR as of 2022. As a Family Resource Navigator Hess connected with families to assess the needs of the community and subsequently find or provide resources that best served those needs.

Hess completed an AmeriCorps service year in September of 2021. Hess served with Metropolitan Family Service (MFS) at Salish Ponds Elementary SUN - Reynolds School District in Fairview, OR. Metropolitan Family Service provides resources to under served youth and their families. While serving with MFS Hess built and maintained Salish Ponds SUN website for the virtual afterschool program. They developed and oversaw the virtual afterschool programming which included creating take home kits accompanied with asynchronous videos. Hess ended their service year working with 3rd and 5th graders in summer school centering the class around Social Emotional Learning.

Martha Hill Prize

Hess was awarded the Martha Hill Prize for Outstanding Achievement in Dance and Leadership from The Juilliard School

Casey Hess was greatly involved while at The Juilliard School. Hess was a Diversity Advocate which involved organizing and hosting events that bring awareness to diversity at large. They were involved in numerous outreach performances for underserved communities through the Gluck Fellowship. Hess acted as a liaison between dance students, dance faculty, and administration as a Class Representative. Together with a faculty member, Hess co-taught a class designed for social integration of departments for the freshmen students.
